This interior landscape design for office buildings was developed in close partnership with BTFArch, a Bucharest-based architecture office that had previously designed the two atriums and main lobby of the HBC headquarters. The eastern atrium, more compact, accommodates the reception, while the generous western atrium becomes a social engine—hosting recreational areas, informal meetings, and multicultural interactions.

BTFArch proposed integrating landscape architecture directly into the heart of the building. CMD/LA was selected as a partner to translate this idea into a living, spatial experience. The result is one of the most ambitious and technically refined examples of indoor landscape design for corporate environments in Romania.
CMD/LA designed two oversized planters to host mature Washingtonia palms—13 and 11 meters tall—creating vertical vegetal landmarks inside the space. The planters were built from metal frames clad in fibre-reinforced cement boards, equipped with hydro-thermal insulation and a complete drainage system for the automatic irrigation. The skylight above includes floodlights to support nighttime photosynthesis for the palms.
The planters’ wooden cladding turns them into sculptural indoor benches, activating the space socially. On the floor level, smaller planters host elegant bamboo species, enriching the palette with layered textures and movement. Natural materials and structural planting generate a calming yet dynamic spatial rhythm.
To the sides of the elevators, CMD/LA designed two vertical gardens rising over 30 meters, using stabilized plants applied to MDF panels. These green walls add depth, softness and a powerful biophilic identity to the glass-lined atrium.
Alongside lush vegetation, the space includes indoor water basins and a 6-meter-long fish tank. The architectural elements by BTFArch—glass flooring, dramatic chandeliers and a solid 7-ton marble desk—create a holistic composition where natural and architectural elements coexist seamlessly.
This landscape architecture project for an office building goes beyond aesthetics. It expresses the company’s global profile: international, forward-thinking, and committed to human-centered spaces. Green design becomes part of brand storytelling—organic, immersive, and unforgettable.
