Christine Garden is a large-scale landscape architecture project developed near Târgu Jiu, Romania, designed as a premium private event venue capable of hosting both indoor and outdoor celebrations. The concept integrates architecture, water features, mature planting strategies and spatial sequencing into a cohesive landscape design dedicated to weddings, civil ceremonies, religious ceremonies and private receptions.
This landscape design for events was conceived as a flexible, multi-seasonal environment, where the outdoor garden and the indoor Christine salon operate as complementary spaces. The project transforms a generous plot into a refined experiential setting structured around arrival, ceremony, social interaction and retreat.
The street facade of Christine Garden was conceived as an architectural statement rather than a conventional perimeter fence. In the context of private event venue design in Romania, visibility from the public realm becomes a strategic branding tool. The boundary wall, entrance gate and planted frontage operate together as the visual signature of the entire landscape concept.
A continuous hedge system ensures privacy and acoustic buffering, while the architectural portals mark the main access point with clarity and proportion. The name “Christine” is integrated into the facade composition, reinforcing identity and memorability from the street level. This controlled visibility balances exclusivity with subtle elegance — a critical positioning strategy for a premium wedding venue near Târgu Jiu.
The tree alignment along the street introduces rhythm, seasonal color variation and scale transition between the public road and the interior garden. The facade does not simply protect the site; it frames anticipation. Through layered planting and architectural geometry, the fence becomes an extension of the landscape architecture strategy, elevating the project beyond standard event venue typologies in Romania.
The arrival sequence is structured through a formal reception patio designed as the spatial threshold between public space and private celebration. Cubic natural stone paving reinforces durability and elegance, while a decorative water basin with vertical jets introduces movement, sound and visual identity. Integrated architectural lighting enhances the evening atmosphere, positioning the venue competitively within the premium wedding venue market in Romania.
Planters with structured vegetation define circulation flows and frame perspectives toward the Christine salon. The patio functions simultaneously as a reception plaza, cocktail space and transitional buffer between parking and the main event hall. The landscape architecture strategy ensures both ceremony staging and guest comfort during high-capacity events.
The central symbolic space of the project is the Ceremony Island — a contemporary composition of metal structure, timber deck and water basin. Designed for civil and religious ceremonies, the island is surrounded by a custom metal lake basin, generating intimacy and separation without physical barriers.
A mirrored wall amplifies spatial depth while reflecting sky, vegetation and guests, intensifying the emotional impact of the ceremony. Sculptural elements and layered planting reinforce perspective control. Integrated lighting transforms the island into a floating architectural object during evening events, supporting both photography and cinematic wedding productions.
This outdoor wedding venue design exemplifies CMD/LA’s landscape architecture approach: minimal structural intervention, maximum spatial experience.
The Summer Garden operates as a hybrid indoor-outdoor structure. A glass ceiling ensures weather protection while maintaining visual continuity with the sky and surrounding trees. The vertical planes are doubled with dense green hedges, creating a living envelope that guarantees privacy and acoustic control.
Paved in natural stone and equipped with a central bar, lounge seating and adaptable table layouts, the space supports small private events, corporate gatherings, rehearsal dinners or operates as a summer restaurant during weekdays. The landscape design anticipates operational versatility, ensuring year-round economic sustainability for the venue.
Beyond the formal event zones, a mixed forest planting strategy defines the outer perimeter of the site. Tree species were selected for variation in height, seasonal coloration, flowering cycles and canopy density. This approach creates layered privacy screens while enhancing biodiversity and microclimatic comfort.
The forest zone softens built elements, frames long perspectives and establishes a green backdrop essential for professional wedding photography. The diversity of species ensures year-round visual interest, positioning the garden among the most distinctive private event landscapes in the Târgu Jiu region.
Through careful zoning, spatial sequencing and integrated lighting, Christine Garden demonstrates how landscape architecture in Romania can elevate a private event venue into a destination environment. The project balances aesthetic refinement with operational functionality, offering a contemporary model for wedding venue garden design in Eastern Europe.
